Kristin Trethewey is an artist, curator and media arts instructor. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts from Brooklyn College in Performance and Interactive Media. She has been curating and collaborating with artists and musicians for over a decade. These projects are multidisciplinary, interactive, performance and video related pieces within the media, arts and music scene.

After a year working with the BNMI at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada she relocated to New York where she presented various artworks as well as a two-week international festival of video called Play With Fire Festival in 2009 and the month-long, INDEX Festival in 2011. She has taught progressive video and video sculpture at Harvestworks as well as courses for youth in media literacy with The LAMP.

From 2011-2013 she lived in Berlin, Germany. During this time she studied at the NODE Centre for Curatorial Studies and presented several exhibitions including Illuminations of Wedding, co-curated with Michelle O’Brien for the Transmediale, Vorspiel program in 2013.

She lives in Toronto, occasionally working as an independent curator, media arts writer and and sessional lecturer at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
